The San Diego Area Law Libraries (SANDALL) is excited to present a unique institute on the challenges and pitfalls of publishing authentic legal materials in cyberspace. It is very easy to put cases and statutes online; it is very difficult to prove who created them and that they were not tampered with prior to the end user accessing them. Programs during the day-long institute will include: passage of the Uniform Electronic Legal Material Act; current state implementation efforts; information technology tools required to create cyber fingerprints; MCLE luncheon with keynote speaker, Diane Boyer-Vine, California Legislative Counsel, and an off-site reception in the Old Town district following the conclusion of programming.
This event has been made possible by a grant from the AALL/Bloomberg BNA Continuing Education Grant Program. For the keynote lunch, the San Diego County Bar Association has agreed to partner with us and certifies that the luncheon address has been approved for MCLE by the State Bar of California. We will provide a separate registration for attorneys interested in CLE credit.

The USD campus is easily accessible from Interstate 5 and Interstate 8. Enter at the east entrance to campus off of Linda Vista Road, directly across the street from Carmel Pacific Ridge apartments. Stop at the entry gate for a permit and then proceed to the Mission Structure. Parking is free, but you must display a permit in your vehicle to avoid being ticketed. Parking spaces on the roof level of the structure will be reserved for Winter Institute attendees. It is a short walk from the Mission Structure to the Degheri Alumni Center. INSTITUTE HOTEL – A Best Western Plus, the Hacienda Hotel in historic Old Town San Diego, CA
Room rates are $130/night for Institute participants. Call (619) 298-4707 for reservations. Please refer to the USD – SANDALL group when making your reservation. Reservations must be made by December 08, 2014. This rate includes El Presidente benefits for one person per room, which provides Breakfast, Dinner and two drink coupons per day in the Old Town Tequila Restaurant & Cantina.
Transportation: The Hacienda Hotel offers free shuttle service between the hotel and the San Diego International Airport. It operates from 7am-9:30pm Saturday through Thursday and from 5:30am-9:30pm on Friday. Call the hotel at 619-298-4707 upon your arrival to arrange a pick-up.
A USD shuttle will transport participants between the hotel and the conference venue.
A.M. – The tram will be available in front of the Hacienda Hotel at 4041 Harney Street from 7:30-7:45am. Please be sure to board the tram by 7:45, as it will run only once, dropping off at the USD Degheri Alumni Center by 8am.
P.M. – The tram will pick up passengers in front of the USD Degheri Alumni Center at 5:20pm and drop off at the Hacienda Hotel.
